Our stay in Mrs. Ina's wonderful care in Chinase lingered with us all the way to the southern end of this big island, and did so in several ways. First, the breakfast sortiment we had in Chinase contained a 10-pack of eggs, which we did not manage to use during our stay. So the eggs traveled with us here, and became the basis of many consecutive breakfasts.

  • omelette with mushrooms and spring onion
  • bananas with peanut butter
  • mandarins
  • pineapple juice

After breakfast, we took a ferry over the bay to the neighboring island Kakeroma-jimaThere is an acclaimed beach on Kakeroma's northern side, and as we got there, a suprising encounter took place: Mrs. Ina from Chinase Youth hostel was there to serve us coffee! Though she did tell us earlier (with effort, over the language barrier) that she has a guest house on Kakeroma, too, we didn't quite expect to find her there in person! Anyway, it was a happy rendezvous, and we had the chance to meet her nephew and his girlfriend, who were on a vacation from Tokyo.
