8.45-9:10 AM; breakfast at the campground terrace, Beverly Campground, Taveuni

We had been living very close to nature, camping in Beverly, including all the tame residents of the campground. We're not sure what it was about this morning's breakfast, but the process of preparing it was intensively observed by the local family of cats. As the breakfast was ready and served to table, Mikko went out of the terrace to take this picture, and the biggest of the cats – the mother – saw its moment had arrived and struck its teeth to our loaf of bread we had (carelessly) left lying on the table.

Due to the inconveniency of the bus connections on Taveuni – there's practically only one road that runs around almost the entire island and has long unpaved streches full of potholes – we thought it was better to relocate closer to the waterfalls we had yet to see. So we packed up camp at Beverly, and took the “ten o'clock bus” – it arrived at 9:30 – to Lavena, the entry point to the national park.
