  • noodle soup with vegetables and egg
Our noodle soup saga got a happy ending, as the chef from the day before was on duty again. Mikko even got an extra portion of noodles!

After breakfast we headed out to the bus station to catch a bus to Laos. We tried first to get the hotel receptionist to call us a cab, but apparently “taxi” is not a word well known in China. So we chose to walk towards the station, and try to wave a taxi as they would pass us by, but none were available. We had not heard of a public transport network in Xishuangbanna, nor noticed even one local bus, but as if through some divine intervention, just as we were walking past a bus stop a local bus would arrive. So for the cost of 1 yuan and looking like idiots with our big backpacks in the crammed bus (Mikko got stuck to a handrail from the Japanese umbrella he persistently carries around), we made it to the station on time.
