Yesterday we were joined by Mikko's sister Annis, and this morning we were all up early to witness a living memory from the 1980's: a mobile grocery store (a converted bus), that was touring around Central Karelia during the summer holiday season.
It was pouring rain as we walked to the crossroads where the grocery bus would stop. We got going a bit late, and just when we got up on the hill between our cabin and the crossroads, we could hear the bus' tires screeching as it turned and went away - who would want to do groceries on such a rainy morning anyway?
Wasting no time, Annis looked up the number posted on the bus stop sign, and called the driver. He was already a kilometer away, but agreed to turn around. We had originally planned to just buy ice cream, but feeling grateful, we ended up spending a fortune.
- “Minttu Puffet” ice-cream
